Finding the Lost Learning
Dragonfire Outdoor Learning

Covid 19 had a profound effect on schools, children and communities. Whilst much has been rightly said about the heritage issues for children and the resulting 'gaps' in learning and the need for 'recovery' and 'catch up' programmes we at Firewolf Learning have focused on the longer term 'legacy' issues that  emerged for children...
The Lost Learning.
These are issues to do with attitudes and aptitudes to learning - personal characteristics such as resilience, determination, perseverance and confidence. We have worked in collaboration with the Dorset based Dragonfire Outdoor Learning to help develop outdoor learning activities and assessment tools to enable teachers to deliver a 'realigned' curriculum as well as support already established 'forest schools' begin to address these longer term issues.

Dragonfire Outdoor Learning both delivers outdoor learning activities in schools as well training Outdoor Learning, Forest School and Beach School leaders to Level 3.

Dragonfire only deploys qualified Forest School Leaders who are also fully qualified teachers to deliver our provision in schools - enabling flexibility regarding deployment by the school.

This learning provision, whilst building on the child centred and engaging approach of  Forest School, is also carefully planned and mapped with the school so as to enhance the schools planned curriculum and develop childrens' essential skills and aptitudes for learning as well as   progress their skills and knowledge. To enhance this still further Dragonfire have also developed a personalised pupils learning aptitude and skills assessment tool to further secure the schools Relationship and Heath (RSHE)  provision and to focus on the essential  independent learning skills

.. the 'Lost Learning' ...

that for some pupils becomes a hindering legacy from

Covid-19.
